2022 Geek-A-Long: Legend of Zelda Socks

“The flow of time is always cruel… Its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it… A thing that doesn’t change with time is a memory of younger days. ~Ocarina Of Time

You know what else doesn’t change? How much I like knitting socks. Welcome to the second installment of the 2022 Geek-A-Long: Year of the Sock! Wind your yarn and warm up your needles because this week we’ve got the project sheet and gauge swatch ready to download.

Last week Jac unveiled our new project kit, and if you’re on the fence about getting one I’d grab it soon because as of right now they are already half gone! I love the bag in this one. It folds up into a tiny little pouch. I don’t know what it is about stuff that has “secret features” like that, but I’m a total sucker for it. Plus, the bag is huge and I like big bags.

The stitch markers are in a potion bottle. And let’s face it, the Venn Diagram of people who love giant project bags and people who love tiny bottles is just a circle.

Let’s talk about yarn for this one. The pattern calls for 4 colors, and while it is *possible* to knit these in 2 colors instead, I strongly recommend going with 4 primary colors. This pattern can handle a slightly lower contrast among your colors than most of our colorwork designs, and we took the opportunity to use a slightly muted palate. Kamala Kahn and Blue Ajah are super bold, so I balanced them with Gilded (mustard yellow) and Cyborg (dark gray). The final result is super colorful but in a controlled way.

With no more ado, let’s get swatching! Just like the Oregon Trail Socks, we’ll release the Legend of Zelda socks in 4 installments, starting next week with the first leg. You can download the project sheet below, or by adding the pattern to your library on Ravelry. Have a great week, and I’ll see you next Sunday. <3

View Legend of Zelda: Project Sheet by clicking the button below. When you download the pattern from our website instead of through Ravelry, you will NOT receive automatic updates. You will have to come here and download the next clue every time. Please download it via Raverly if you are able, so you have immediate access to the clues as they are released and any errata that may appear.

I like big bags and I cannot lie. You other duffles can’t deny. When a crafter walks in with with an tiny notions case and a big bag in your face you cast on.
