2021 Geek-A-Long Sweater: Clue 1

It’s happening! Welcome to week one of the 2021 Geek-A-Long Sweater: The On Board Cardigan. I am beyond thrilled to get to share this with you. This project represents the most ambitious knit-a-long planning, pattern grading, chart making endeavor I’ve undertaken to date, and I’m incredibly proud of what we have in store over the next 24 weeks.

With no further ado, you can jump on board and download Clue 1 today! We’ll start our 2021 Geek-A-long Adventure with the cuff of the left sleeve. Actually, it doesn’t matter, pattern wise, which side you put this particular sleeve on, but I put it on the left. The 2 sleeves are different, and you can decide which side to put them on when you get to the sleeve join. The cuff is cast on and then worked in a basic K2P2 rib, and after completing the cuff you will transition to double knitting. Don’t worry, the pattern includes instructions for that.

I took about 1 million pictures of my sweater while I worked on it earlier this year, and I’ll be posting them on Instagram as we go along. Don’t forget to tag your progress pictures with #geekalong #lattesandllamas and #OnBoardSweater so we can all ooh and aah over each other’s work! I’m dying to see your pictures. Make sure to post progress photos and any questions on the Geek-A-Long forum on Ravelry — I know I’m not the only one out there that is thirsty for On Board progress shots!

One last fun announcement for today: The Progress sheet has been updated with pattern abbreviations and combined with the swatch pattern and stitch instructions, and is available as a single document, which is ready for download in your Ravelry library and at the bottom of this post.

Released so far:

View On Board: Clue 1 by clicking this link or download it by clicking the button below. When you download the pattern from our website instead of through Ravelry, you will NOT receive automatic updates. You will have to come here and download the next clue every time. Please download it via Raverly if you are able, so you have immediate access to the clues as they are released and any errata that may appear.
