Howdy, Geek-A-Long family! Keen observers may note that today is not January first. Indeed, it is nearly February first. The reason? It turns out that jumping from family crisis to family tragedy throughout the second half of 2022 is not conducive to planning a year long event or designing new patterns. So Megan-Anne and I, with the help of our baby sister Alena, sat down over the weekend and created a plan to get Lattes & Llamas back on track. Here’s what you need to know:
CHAOS REIGNS SUPREME
I’ll be headlining our original plan to release colorwork socks based on our favorite cozy video games. Playing these games has helped my ennui* a lot and I’m excited to share them with you. Meanwhile, Megan-Anne is channeling her inner chaos demon and will just show up occasionally with random free patterns. Basically, she’s dealing with her emotions by becoming a feral yarn-goblin, cackling in the corner while she designs shit with beads.
*My therapist said I’m allowed to call my depression ennui if that is what will help me confront it.
I can’t tell you when the Feral Yarn-Goblin will be dropping in or how many free patterns she’ll be sharing with you this year, but I can tell you about…
SOCKS PART II, ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
- Socks Part II will include FOUR pairs of Geek-A-Long Socks.
- On Sunday, April 2nd of 2023, we will debut the theme of the first socks along with the pattern details you will need in order to cast on and Geek-A-Long with us.
- Each pattern will be divided up into two unique parts like we did with the Stray Socks.
- The kick-off party begins Sunday, April 23rd, when the first half of the pattern will be released.
- In addition to being available here on our website, Geek-A-Long Socks will also be available for you to download for free on Raverly.
- While we’re hoping to be able to make kits again this year, it’s unclear at this time if we’ll be able to make it happen or what form it will take.
If you haven’t jumped on the colorwork sock bandwagon yet, you can check out and subscribe to our YouTube Channel here for some tutorials to get you started.
For those of you working on Geek-A-Long blankets or other projects using our yarn, keep an eye out for an announcement in February. We’re planning to discontinue a few colorways to make room for new ones. Before those colorways disappear forever, we’ll give you time to order them and get what you need for your projects. If a colorway you need is currently sold out, don’t panic that it’s already gone. All of the colors will be open and available during the big shop update announcement in February.

Just so you guys know, the crickets around here wasn’t just due to negative things happening in our private lives. We have some exciting stuff in the pipeline! We’re just not allowed to discuss it publicly yet. :D
If you enjoyed this post, please consider making a donation to Child’s Play Charity. Here is a direct link to our official donation page benefiting the charity. Please help us raise $1,000 this year. No contribution is too small! Wanna make your donation go even further? Lattes & Llamas will donate $1 for every skein of Geek-A-Long Yarn purchased.
I’m glad to hear things were quiet for exciting reasons instead of sad ones. And honestly… I can use the extra time between now and the 2023 GAL starting up to hopefully FINALLY finish my long-term GAL blanket!
