2022 Geek-A-Long: Pokémon Clue 2

Welcome to week 2 of the Gotta Catch ‘Em All socks — This week we’ll finish off our first sock, and pay homage to the most popular starter Pokémon in the game: Squirtle!

The internet tells me that Squirtle is named after Japanese money, but I wasn’t able to verify how accurate that is. Seems plausible. What I do know is true is that Squirtle is the most often chosen starter, and is the most effective starter against gym leaders. That tracks, water Pokémon get the job done.

Most importantly, Squirtle is an adorable starter Pokémon!! Just look at his squishy little face. He’s so tiny and fierce. If one of these Pokémon were a kitten, I think it would be Squirtle. The bottom of the sock is adorned in great balls, to get you started off strong and ready to catch those tricky Pokémon’s. Using a blue great ball is 1.5 times more effective than a regular red pokeball, but don’t worry, you’ll get some of those in week 4 so you don’t have to blow all your great balls on easy catches.

And with that, I’m off to spend the weekend celebrating the illustrious anniversary of my birth. We usually go to the drive in for my birthday, but this year I needed a little extra magic, so we’re having Christmas in July. I am feasting on ham and gingerbread, and demanded that Kevin and Jac wrap my presents in Christmas paper. Enjoy your Squirtles and I’ll see you back here next Sunday for the first part of Pokémon Red!

You will have to come here and download the next clue every time. Please download it via Raverly if you are able, so you have immediate access to the clues as they are released and any errata that may appear.

“Enjoy your Squirtles” sounds like a bad romance novel XD
