Geek-A-Long 2022: The Legend of Zelda

A belated Happy Mother’s Day to all of the strong female role models out there doing there best to love and care for the children and pets in their lives! Predictably, the holiday threw off our theme announcement for the second pair of socks Geek-A-Long 2022. Dude, the frozen margaritas alone. I can not keep up with mother-in-law. It’s okay though, because the best part of Mother’s Day is the leftover Tres Leche cake the next day.

ANYWAY.

Without further ado, I am honored to share the theme of the first pair of Geek-A-Long socks:

LEGEND OF ZELDA

The Legend of Zelda Socks are a glorious celebration of finding the Boss Key, drinking potions, and collecting those Rupees. The kick-off party begins next weekend when we’ll release the project sheet, complete with instructions for a coffee-cozy gauge swatch and all that other stuff you need to know like yarn requirements and such. After that, the four clues for the socks will release as follows:

  1. May 22, 2022: Clue 1 of 4
  2. May 29, 2022: Clue 2 of 4
  3. June 5, 2022: Clue 3 of 4
  4. June 12, 2022: Clue 4 of 4

So, are you ready to smash some pottery, adventure across Hyrule, and knit the Legend of Zelda? First you’ll need to swing by the merchant in Castle Town and get yourself a Legend of Zelda Kit!

Available with limited quantities, each Year of the Sock: Legend of Zelda Kit contains four beautiful, 50 gram skeins of Lattes & Llamas’ Vacation base in “Gilded,” “Cyborg,” “Kamala Kahn,” and “Blue Ajah,” hand-dyed with enough yardage for you to knit a pair of the Legend of Zelda Socks; a cheeky tote for your socks; and a set of the Extra Life stitch markers in a potion bottle, hand-crafted by Megan-Anne. One of my favorite things about the Take This tote, other than what we had screen printed on it, is the fact that it folds up into this cute little package! Megan-Anne made a quick little video to show you how it’s done:

I mean, you definitely can purchase the yarn from our shop as normal, you just won’t be able to get this super cool tote or these stitch markers AND you’ll have twice as much yarn as you’ll need.

Because this happened with the Oregon Trail Kit despite my disclaimers, let me state the (I guess, not so) obvious: The kit does NOT include the actual Legend of Zelda Sock pattern. The four clues must be downloaded from our website or Ravelry as they are released. See release schedule above for dates.

Don’t want to miss any of the clue releases? Then join our mailing list!

Alright, fam. We’ll see you back here on Sunday. We’ll talk gauge swatches, share the project sheet with you, and get you hyped up for more colorwork socks!

My drunk husband and my equally drunk baby sister made a round of the frozen margaritas together at the end of the night. This turned out to be a mistake. Apparently, neither of them knew what the ratio was supposed to be and she told him to “follow his Puerto Rican heart.” My husband’s Puerto Rican heart is a damn lush! It had so much tequila in it, I couldn’t taste the strawberry mix they supposedly added. Needless to say, two days later, I feel as if I’m still hungover.
