The Pact Hat

Hola, ’tis I, Jac-Jac. Today, I bring forth to you a brand new colorwork pattern, which technically released earlier this week, but Big Obligations and Carpal Tunnel kept messing up my to-do list. You know, like how our yarn was featured in Leslie Anne Robinson’s debut book, Brioche Knitting for Beginners and Beyond, and I never seem to find enough time or spoons to blog about it. It be like that sometimes.

And yet, maybe it doesn’t have to be…

About the Pattern

The Pact Hat is worked in the round from the brim to the crown of the hat with stranded knitting, using either long circular needles to work in Magic Loop or 16-inch circular needles and DPNs. This hat pattern is recommended for knitters who have experience with stranded colorwork, knitting in the round, and reading charts.

Recommended Yarn: Three skeins of Lattes & Llamas Geek-A-Long Yarn (100 grams/ 328 yards) or a comparable sport weight yarn in three contrasting colorways.

Sample is a shown in “Palpatine” as MC, “Slimer” as CC1, and “Half-Orc” as CC2.

  • MC: 44(45, 46, 47) grams/ 145(148, 151, 155) yards
  • CC1: 21(22, 23, 24) grams/ 69(73, 76, 79) yards
  • CC2: 13(14, 15, 16) grams/ 43(46, 50, 53) yards

Note that yardage is estimated and may vary depending on yarn used, gauge variations, or modifications.

Needles: One set of double-pointed needles and 16-inch circular needles or extra-long circular needles to work in magic loop in the sizes listed below:

  • Size 1: US2 / 2.75 mm
  • Size 2: US3 / 3.25 mm
  • Size 3: US4 / 3.5 mm
  • Size 4: US5 / 3.75 mm

Sizing: Size 1(2, 3, 4) has an 18.5(20, 21.5, 23) inch circumference and a height of 7.5(8, 8.5, 9) inches. Sample is shown in a Size 4.

Seriously though, how great would it be to have the Mage Hand cantrip in real life though. I could use it to knit even though my left hand is out of commission!
