Revivify Socks

Be my Galentine!

Alright, so Galentine’s Day isn’t until the day before that other made-up holiday, but it feels uncouth to share this sock pattern without giving you time to knit them before the big Heart Day. So here it is today!

We’re doing things a little different this time. The Revivify Socks will be available on Raverly as usual, but we have it here on Lattes & Llamas as well. We want to start offering people the option to buy our patterns and yarn all in one place instead of getting our patterns from Ravelry and then the yarn from here.

YOU CAN STOP EMAILING US NOW, SANDRA. YOU’RE WELCOME. ❤

We’re hoping to do this with all of our pattern releases moving forward, but we’ll see how this experiment goes. We’ve talked about adding prior pattern releases as well, but I don’t think that’s something we’ll be able to get to until the first Geek-A-Long sock makes its debut in April, officially kicking off the Year of the Sock.

Get 75% off the Revivify Sock pattern now through Monday, February 14th, 2022 or get the pattern for FREE when you bundle it with the recommended yarn! No coupon code needed here or on Ravelry.

The Revivify Socks were designed for you to have fun with a hand-dyed, variegated colorway and give your toes a sweet new life. With simple lace at the cuff and hearts at the toes, this sock is perfect for beginning knitters ready to try out new techniques or for the seasoned knitter wanting to enjoy a sweet and simple knit.

About the Pattern

The Revivify Socks are worked in the round from the cuff down using either long circular needles to work in Magic Loop or DPNs. This pattern is recommended for knitters with experience working in the round, striping, and turning a heal.

Recommended Yarn: Lattes & Llamas Vacation Yarn (100 grams/ 463 yards) or a comparable fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colorways. Sample is shown in ‘Sorcerer’ as Color A and ‘Sequins’ as Color B.

  • Color A: 52(58, 64, 70) grams/ 241(269, 385, 325) yards
  • Color B: 20(26, 32, 38) grams/ 93(121, 149, 176) yards

Note that yardage is estimated and may vary depending on yarn used, gauge variations, or modifications.

Needles: US1 / 2.25 mm to work in Magic Loop or size needed to obtain gauge.

I prefer the Magic Loop method when knitting socks. If you are more comfortable using DPNs or two circulars, this pattern is easily converted.

Sizing: Size 1(2, 3, 4) has a foot circumference of 7(8, 9, 10) inches. Sample is shown in a size 2.

These socks actually had a strange journey from casting on the first sock to Kitchener stitching the second toe closed. I realized I didn’t have anything to knit during my mini vacation to the beach in August. (You know, before Delta and Omicron ruined everything for this immunocompromised family.) When I travel, I like to bring something small and easy to pick up and put down, and vanilla socks are perfect for that. I grabbed one of our crazier new colorways (Sorcerer) on Vacation Yarn and a solid (Sequins) for a bit of lacey flair.

Things went really well. We jumped in the waves, built a sandcastle, and ate a bunch of watermelon before we chilled in our beach chairs, listening to the waves. Megan-Anne and I knitted. Alena (our baby sister) and Mabel took naps. Our husbands read books. Perfection. That is until we got home from our mini vacation and I couldn’t figure out what I had done with my lil project bag.

The socks got to spend several months at the New Jersey shore, and I wasn’t reunited with my project until I saw my in-laws at Christmas. I decided to call the pattern Revivify since they were back from the dead. And with the name in place, I couldn’t resist adding a row of sweet little hearts after the stripes on the foot. Naturally, things were going too well so I accidentally peeled my finger instead of the potato in my hands. I couldn’t knit for a week while I waited for it to scab over. A month later, it still hurts if I put pressure on the scar for too long, and it has messed up my tension. Thank the gods for blocking!

SIDE NOTE: In my defense, those onions were deadly. I was weeping like I was five-years-old again and I realized Batman wasn’t real and we couldn’t get married. I peeled one whole potato with my eyes closed. Emboldened by this, I did not take as much care with the second potato. My husband and my sister Alena had to band together to finish making my special Christmas Quiche while I moaned pitifully about all the knitting I wouldn’t be able to do.

But now, after all is said and done, I finally have these cute new socks to wear and share with you. Considering I’ll be spending another Valentine’s Day at home with my husband instead, I’m glad I’ll have them to keep my toes warm and make the day feel a little more special. ❤

Galentine’s Day sprouted from an episode of Parks and Rec, but I like the message of ladies celebrating ladies. However, it’s also a really great opportunity to appreciate ALL of your friendships, no matter their gender. So, Happy PALentine’s Day too!
