2021 Geek-A-Long: Week 5

To paraphrase a certain Epic Rap Battle of History, Thomas Edison did not steal from Nikola Tesla, he stole Tesla from mankind. We could have had free electricity.

I revamped another 2015 Geek-A-Long square this week. I took a step back from the realm of video game villains in the mad scientist sector and gave a real life scientist his due instead, Nikola Tesla.

“Nicola Tesla was essentially a real life Tony Stark, sans fortune. Despite going to his grave with massive debt, Tesla pioneered neon lights, remote controls, lasers, fluorescent lights, alternating current, radio, modern x-rays, robotics, and wireless communication. And that’s just the inventions that I know of. The truth is we probably owe at least some part of the majority of all modern technology to Nicola Tesla. One day, when all disputes are settled with laser-eyed robot shark fights, you will have Tesla to thank.”

~ Megan-Anne, week 1 of the 2015 Geek-A-Long

You can read the original blog post about Tesla [week 1 of 2015] by clicking this link. That post also contains a preview of the pattern and a download button like the one below for you to snag the Tesla Coil Schematic pattern for yourself.

I would talk some more about how great Tesla was, how he was a visionary and ahead of his time, but I’m accidentally falling down a rabbit hole of Epic Rap Battles of History. I completely forgot this existed, and now I’m watching like two years worth of rap battles.

Someone once asked Albert Einstein how it felt being smartest man on Earth. Einstein replied: “I don’t know. You’ll have to ask Nikola Tesla.”
