2021 Geek-A-Long: Week 4

Building off Week Three of the Geek-A-Long revamp, I went toe-to-toe with another 2015 Mad Scientist today. Much like Dr. Eggman last week, Dr. Wily is also the villain of a video game. You can read the original blog post about Dr. Wily [week 35 of 2015] by clicking this link. That post also contains a preview of the pattern and a download button like the one below for you to snag the Dr. Wily pattern for yourself.

After I finished tackling Dr. Wily, I thought I’d go ahead and do Mega Man too since they’re from the same video game. I scoured the master list trying to remember which year we had released Mega Man, and apparently we never did! This is a gross oversight on our part. I added a new section in my GAL Revamp Master List to keep track of squares we’ll release in the future.

Oddly enough, Mega Man was featured on 8-Bit, the Geek-A-Long’s first sweater knit along! Megan-Anne and I didn’t play much Mega Man as kids, but my brother-in-law, Kevin (Megan-Anne’s husband), is a HUGE fan. He was the one who convinced us that Eight Bit would not be complete without Mega Man on it.

I’ll be revamping another 2015 square next week. However, I think I’ll take a step back from the video game villains and give a real life scientist his due instead.

In August of 2015, Megan-Anne put this in her sign-off:

“Every single time I typed ‘Mega Man’ in this post my computer’s spell check changed it to ‘Megan Man’. I’m 85% certain I fixed them all.”

Five and a half years later, I’m putting it here too since my computer kept trying to do the same thing!
