The Pact

The Pact knitting pattern

We know it’s your constitutional right to knit, but as you’re painfully aware Big Obligations, such as sleeping and going to work, are trying to take away your knitting time and there’s nothing you can do about it. Or is there? I’m Jacquline Rivera, and I’m here to sell you on a life-changing opportunity with the Great Old Ones. No longer will you have to fear for your precious knitting time, because we here at the National Eldritch Blast Association know that the only thing worse than no time to knit is someone interrupting your knitting time. The National Eldritch Blast Association endeavors to provide a pact with the Great Old Ones for every occasion. When you knit The Pact, you’ll gain more than the loss of your soul!

The Pact fingerless mitts

With tentacles on the backs of the hands, an Art Deco inspired motif on the palm, and a complementary accent on the wrist, The Pact mitts are worked in the round with stranded knitting, using either long circular needles to work in Magic Loop or DPNs.

About the Pattern

This pattern is recommended for knitters who have experience with stranded colorwork, knitting in the round, and reading charts.

Recommended Yarn: Three skeins of Lattes & Llamas Interlude Yarn (100 grams/ 438 yards) or a comparable fingering weight yarn in three contrasting colorways. Sample is shown in ‘Khaaaaan’ as Color A, ‘Ectoplastm’ as Color B, and ‘Lawful Good’ as Color C.

  • Color A: 34 grams/ 149 yards
  • Color B: 12 grams/ 53 yards
  • Color C: 18 grams/ 79 yards

When choosing your yarn, make sure that Colors B and C contrast strongly with Color A. I recommend taking a photograph of the yarns together, and then changing it into black and white to see if the colors contrast strongly enough.

Needles: US1 / 2.25 mm to work in Magic Loop or size needed to obtain gauge.

I prefer the Magic Loop method when knitting mitts. If you are more comfortable using DPNs or two circulars, this pattern is easily converted.

Sizing: One Size — 8.25 inches long and 8 inches in circumference after blocking. Instructions are included to modify the size of your mitts by going up or down a needle size.

The Pact knitting pattern

I wanted to call these fingerless mitts: “I’m ready to make a pact with the Great Old Ones so I can win the lottery and buy a Wyrmwood Gaming Table. Also, I want Eldritch Blast.” I found the name rather catchy, but since Ravelry limits name length, I just went with “The Pact”.

~ Jac

Also, if you’re reading this Wyrmwood Gaming, I would be more than happy to pimp one of your Prophecy tables should you wish to send one to me. Every photo I take from now on will have it in the background, I swear to the Great Old Ones!
