Hello, Knitters. Have you felt the primal call of the mystical moon calling you to strike down those who would defy you? No? Well, if you stopped wearing normal run of the mill hand-warmers and switched to Moonlit Magic, you might.
Look down. Back up. Where are you? You’re a powerful witch with your coven of knitters underneath the full moon, cackling as you hex the insidious nature of the patriarchy, and you look amazing.
What’s in your hand? Back at me. It’s the power of moonbeams you infused into every stitch of your Moonlit Magic mitts to help you defeat a hated foe. It does wonders for your coziness levels and resilience, and we all can agree that we will need that in the upcoming months.
Look again: those moonbeam are now a formal apology from the last person who had unnecessarily and condescendingly tried to explain something to you. Anything is possible when you look like a terrifying yet glamourous witch and embrace your own rage to make the world a better place.
I’m on a broomstick.
Whether you need to make the day more magical one stitch at a time or need the world to know about your “Big Witch Energy”, Moonlit Magic is here for you. With starbursts at the cuff, an otherworldly motif on the palms, and a geometric shining moon on the back of the hands, you’ll be ready to bring All Hallows Eve through October and into the colder months.

About the Pattern
The Moonlit Magic mitts are worked in the round with stranded knitting, using either long circular needles to work in Magic Loop or DPNs. This pattern is recommended for knitters who have experience with stranded colorwork, knitting in the round, and reading charts.
Recommended Yarn: Two skeins of Lattes & Llamas Interlude Yarn (100 grams/ 438 yards) or a comparable fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colorways. Sample is shown in ‘Khaaaaan’ as Color A and ‘In Omnia Paratus’ as Color B.
- Color A: 37 grams/ 162 yards
- Color B: 21 grams/ 92 yards
When choosing your yarn, make sure that Colors A and B contrast strongly. I recommend taking a photograph of the yarns together, and then changing it into black and white to see if the colors contrast strongly enough.
Needles: US1 / 2.25 mm to work in Magic Loop or size needed to obtain gauge.
I prefer the Magic Loop method when knitting mitts. If you are more comfortable using DPNs or two circulars, this pattern is easily converted.
Sizing: One Size — 9 inches long and 8 inches in circumference after blocking. Instructions are included to modify the size of your mitts by going up or down a needle size.
I promise not to start writing Old Spice commercial inspired bits for each of my new patterns. To be honest though, I sort of regret not thinking of it for Harvest Melody a couple weeks ago… and I just might end up doing it for my third and final fingerless mitt design for autumn, Raven Queen.
~ Jac
After Raven Queen, I’m planning to take a colorwork sock detour.
These are awesome! I love them so much.
