Nightmare Mode 3.5

Just so you’re aware, I’m typing this one handed. My cat is currently “helping” me by trying to shove himself into the narrow space between me and my keyboard. There is actually enough space for him to lay between the monitor and keyboard, but nooooo. So, if I don’t catch one of the many typos that he’s creating by “helping,” you know why.

First came the Water Tribe, before the Fire Nation attacked, and now I present to you Titans Tower, home of the Teen Titans!

If you’re looking at it sideways, trying to figure out when we released it and why you’ve never run into it on the GAL Square page, it’s because it was released in 2017 as Geek-A-Long Guild exclusive. We’ve since replaced the Guild with Starter Kits, so it feels fitting to finally release it to the general public.

Also, my husband has really wanted this square for our blanket for a long time, and I couldn’t very well share it with you without giving you the pattern. I mean, we can’t have RavenBeast BoyRobinCyborg, and Starfire without the Tower.

In case you’ve never read the comics, seen the original, award winning Teen Titans animated show (released in 2003) or the latest slapstick cartoon, Teen Titans Go, Titans Tower is a fictional building in the DC universe. Other than being the home of the Titans with its iconic “T” shape, the building has a diverse history. It was actually first built by Dr. Silas Stone, Cyborg’s father and at one point it was destroyed by Trigon, Raven’s father and archenemy, Trigon. It’s been destroyed and rebuilt several times by Cyborg with the help of his father’s blueprints. It’s even moved to different cities, been a hologram, and served as a memorial for fallen Titan heroes.

There have been many versions of the tower, but it always keeps it’s “T” shape. I modeled the Tower on our square after the one in the original animated series. It holds a special place in my heart, so it was a no contest situation.

Whether you’re knitting, crocheting, or cross stitching this square, you can download the Titans Tower pattern here. Instructions and charts for both knit and crochet are listed in the pattern. When you’re finished making it, don’t forget to Instagram your squares at us @lattesandllamasyarn with the hashtag #geekalong! Want to hang out with other people making the blanket? You can find moral support in the Geek-A-Long group on Ravelry here.

When there’s trouble, you know who to call – Teen Titans!
From their tower, they can see it all
– Teen Titans!
When there’s evil on the attack
You can rest knowing they got your back
‘Cause when the world needs heroes on patrol
Teen Titans, go!

I do not have the words to describe how terribly, terribly excited I am to finally see this beauty in out in the world! The minute I saw the rest of the Titans I knew they were going on my blanket. Now they have their home to live in too. <3
