The short story that accompanied the Call of the Siren shawl pattern will continue in September-October with the Jersey Devil. But our shawls are done and our adventures underneath the ocean with the mermaids sirens have come to an end. The completed pattern available on Raverly via the buy now button below or as a part of our Call of the Siren Kit, now contains the full story in the pattern. You will be able to read along as if you had originally knit along with us!

“Our odyssey begins in the coastal town of Ocean City as we cast on our shawls and check in with Dr. Persephone Kore, the head of the Aquatic Division of Lattes & Llamas Society for Knitterly Cryptid Studies. Call of the Siren is an adventure filled knit and seek mystery knit along in the same style as Hunting Sasquatch and Nessie Expedition. This is a shawl project that combines mosaic and double knitting.”

Before we officially bid Ocean City good-bye and head to Camp Wannaknit for the summer, we wanted to share your photos and take a moment to appreciate all amazing work you did!

And now for a pic spam of the completed shawl!

Lifeguard at my apartment’s pool: “Ma’am, the pool is closed today for repairs.”
Me: “I’m not here to swim.”
Lifeguard, eyeballing my bag: “Okay, but you really can’t swim. They’re fixing the electrical.”
Me: “Yeah, no. I’m just here to be super weird and take pictures of my shawl beside the pool. I swear I won’t touch the water.”
Megan-Anne: “I told you we should’ve just driven to the shore.”
Me: “It’s fine. He said it’s fine since we’re not swimming. Right?”
Lifeguard, bewildered: “Right?”

The hell I was gonna spend two hours both ways trapped in a car during this heatwave. Also, I’m pretty sure the sand is currently on par with molten lava right now. We would’ve driven there and not been able to enjoy it, which would be a tragedy and a waste of gas.

And finally, it’s time to congratulate one lucky winner on receiving a skein of Camp Wannaknit on Adventure Yarn! To be entered in the giveaway, you had to show off a photo of your shawl in the Lattes & Llamas forum on Ravelry.

Congratulations JuliettePecaut, you are now ready for summer camp at Camp Wannaknit!

We’ll be laying down the details about our idyllic camp smack-dab in the middle of your crazy life this Friday, so stay tuned! :D

I like to imagine that one day Camp Wannaknit will exist in real life, outside of our hearts and the internet.
