Geek-A-Long News: Giveaway Time

Hiya, knitting nerds! It’s time to talk prizes. Every year we gather up a horde of yarn and knitting accessories to give away to three lucky Geek-A-Long participants that managed to finish their blankets by the end of the year. See also the 2014, 2015, and 2016 winners. For 2017, however, we’re handling it differently.

Lattes & Llamas is quickly outgrowing its studio space in Megan-Anne’s walkout basement. We had refinished half of it to suit our needs and have now taken over every inch of it. Her husband likes to joke that one day he’s going to wake up and find the dining room converted into our new drying room. Some days, I don’t think he’s wrong! Nevertheless, that means space is at a premium and we no longer have room to store the prize baskets until the end of the year, so we’re going to hold monthly drawings instead.

Monthly drawings give you more chances to win!

On the second Friday of every month, we’ll share a prize one of our benefactors sent to us for the giveaway. (Psst, that means the first one starts this Friday!) In order to be eligible to win, all you’ll have to do is follow these three simple steps:

  1. Knit or crochet a 2017 Geek-A-Long square from the allotted six week period. (The March drawing will be the only exception, and you’ll be able to submit a square from weeks 1-12.)
  2. Go to our Geek-A-Long Ravelry group and share your favorite square that you knitted or crocheted from the allotted weeks in the special 2017 Display Case Giveaway thread by the given deadline.
  3. You may submit only one square per drawing, but your name will go into the hat twice if you used Lattes & Llamas Geek-A-Long Yarn to make it. Once a square is submitted it may not be used in another drawing.

Megan-Anne and I will pick a winner at random and share who won on the last Monday of the month. If I can figure out where my husband’s top hat ended up after the move, we’ll literally pull the name(s) out of a hat! I’m so excited to be doing it this way. As much fun as it is to mail four huge boxes every year, I like the idea of spreading the love, which I think we can all use a little more of in 2017. :D

And now for your regularly scheduled GAL sneak peek and Monday Flash Sale!

For the first time this year, you’re going to need three colors instead of two: Invisible Jet, Bottle City, and Daily Planet. You can snag the colors you’ll need for half off HERE until midnight tonight. Yes, the blue and red are part of the spoiler! After you snag your hand-dyed yarn, head over to the GAL Ravelry group to share your guesses.

Mr. Llama keeps trying to talk us into doing a Kickstarter or something to move the studio into a larger place. He’s like, “You can have a dedicated GAL Community Center! People can come knit with you.” It sounds awesome, but the idea of doing a kickstarter terrifies me. How do they even work? What if they’re aren’t any GAL peeps in our area? Would I have to get a special license to provide coffee for our GAL knit nights? These are the questions Megan-Anne and I are too scared to answer.
