Last year, we put together a video of the prize drawing and planned to do the same for the 2015 raffle. Unfortunately, a new employee joined Lattes & Llamas, and she’s had other ideas.
My sweet niece is cute, cuddly, and makes piglet snorting noses when she’s hungry, but she doesn’t believe in being anything other than a four week old baby. I’m like, “Hey, Mabel. Think you could hang out in your swing chair for a couple of hours while your mom and I film a video. You could take a nap or something.”
To which she responds: “Ha ha ha, no. That’s adorable, Aunt Jac. For your insolence, I’m going to cry until you figure out that I want you to make me dance. Again. I’m so glad you did that once at dinner as a joke and I learned that it’s the most magical thing in the world.”
Anyway, Megan-Anne and I agreed that our favorite little terrorist Llama, isn’t going to let us film anything any time soon. We hung our heads, kicked the dirt, and admitted that it was time to be boring and use random number generators like everyone else does for prize drawings. But before I die a little inside and pull up random.org to discover who our winners are, here is a look back at the prizes that were donated in 2015.
Bijou Basin Ranch donated three piece sets of Allure Fiber Wash containing Prairie Breeze, Fragrance Free, and Woodland Mist.
Blue Moon Fiber Arts donated four beautiful hanks of Socks That Rock and fun sock patterns to go with them.
Cascade Yarns not only donated yarn for Megan-Anne and I to knit and crochet the 2015 Geek-A-Long blankets, they also donated a printed copy of Vladimira Ilkovicova’s Cardigan Heathers knitting pattern as well as six pretty skeins of Cascade 220 in one of the four heather colorways.
The Dragonfly Yarn Shop donated one of the coolest things yarny thing of seen this year, the Pirouette. I’m still totally jealous that I don’t have a super cool ball spinner.

Knitter’s Pride sent over four different needles sets: Nova Platina Interchangeable Chunky Set, Bamboo Special Interchangeable Needle Set, Nova Cubics Platina Double Pointed Needle Set, and the Karbonz Double Pointed Needle Set. I have my own set of Nova Cubics sock needles and they are magical. The long pointy tips make knitting faster. I haven’t had the chance to use their bamboo needles though. Still, those things have GOLD PLATED connectors! Talk about decadence. There’s nothing like 24 karat gold to make everything feel 100% fancier.
Lion Brand Yarn sent us a pile of their brand new Scarfie yarn. Each winner will receive two hefty skeins of the chunky, self-striping ombre yarn.
Louet North America sent us two skeins of their GEMS in Navy, Eggplant, Terra Cotta, and Willow for our prize winners, as well as the Matterhorn knitting pattern to test drive it with.
O-Wool donated four squishy skeins of Legacy Bulky.
Skacel donated sets of the much coveted Addi-Art Diamond Needles, which contain freaking Swarovski Crystals, and a fun bag to squirrel it away from the grabby hands of other knitters. (Yes, I am one of those grabby hands knitters. But can you blame me? I marveled at those needles for a looooong time when they arrived.)
WEBS generously donated the yarn to make a full set of Shersocks (you’ll be getting the full Kniterary pattern set in the basket) AND a $25 gift card for each basket!
Last but not least, we like to add something to the raffle every year. In addition to our two ebooks, Kniterary and Kniterary: Crochet Winter Accessories, Megan-Anne and I each made a special handmade item to add to the lottery pot. Megan-Anne made four identical sets of stitch makers and I sewed up four different notions pouches. We had a blast crafting them up for our lucky winners.
Whew, that was a lot of stuff! You’ve waited patiently to discover if you’re one of four lucky winners, and now your time has come. This first drawing is for just being a member of Lattes & Llamas’ Geek-A-Long Ravlery group. Let’s see who our lucky winner is out of 2181 members in 2015:
Congratulations, Cheri!
Funny story, the first person the generator picked was a good friend of ours in real life. We laughed for five straight minutes. Once the shock faded, we decide it would looked rigged, so we hit the button again. I’m really happy it picked Chari. She’s been around since the Geek-A-Long’s fledgling days. And sorry to our friend, we promise not to text you now and tell you what you missed out on.
This year, we had 13 people showed off their completed blankets by the deadline. You can admire their hard work here. Unfortunately, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE. Actually, there are three winners, but yelling ‘only one’ is more fun. Anyway, here are our contestants:
- Eiram7
- noman
- nerdymama42
- prpleskrpngn
- sytana
- brhuth
- Khense
- Ewince01
- critterfxr
- osteoandree
- rocket19
- kellifer
- KnitWit9410
And we couldn’t resist making a quick video…

Congratulations, osteoandree, kellifer, and sytana! And a huge thank you to all of our 2015 Geek-A-Long benefactors, who donated all of this awesome stuff.
Bummed you didn’t win? Don’t worry. The 2016 Geek-A-Long is already underway! If you want the chance to win the 2016 GAL lottery, head over to our Ravelry group and knit or crochet your way into winning.

I regret not just filming Megan-Anne using her daughter’s feet to grab tiny pieces of paper with the video camera instead of my phone. Is was fraking hilarious, and Mabel put up with it for longer than she had any right too.
I am thrilled. Every time you posted another prize was donated I wanted more and more to win. Thank you to all the donors. I guess I really do need to get to work finishing my blanket.
Congrats to the winners, thanks to the donors, and I pity the Doctors, because the little Llama is undoubtedly planning her revenge…
