The First Annual Geek-A-Long
Come with me, my friends. Let’s knit a mysterious, geeky blanket together.
Each Sunday in 2014, we’ll* post a double sided knitting pattern for a geek themed 10″ x 10″ square. After 48 weeks (and squares), we’ll post how to turn them into a blanket and end 2014 feeling really awesome about ourselves. It will be the greatest mystery knit-along of all time or at least until 2015.
I’m getting tingly just thinking about it.
Now, you might be asking yourself, “What the heck is a knit-along?” A knit-along (or KAL) is an event where people get together to knit for a common purpose. For us, that purpose is to improve our double sided knitting skills, raise awareness for Child’s Play Charity, and donate our Geek-A-Long blanket to their cause.
Child’s Play Charity provides games and toys to kids in hospitals and they recently expanded to include families in domestic violence shelters. Through the use of video games, these hospitals and domestic violence shelters are able to entertain, distract, and interact with children through the power of play. If you join us for Geek-A-Long 2014, we encourage you to make a donation via our official CP Chairity donation widget so we can keep track of how much we’ve helped them earn for this great cause. We only ask that you please refrain from using our patterns for profit. We don’t own any of character licenses and you probably don’t either.
