2018 Geek-A-Long: Supernatural Revisited

The original Supernatural square released on week 32 of 2014 has always bothered me. We wanted to do the anti-possession tattoo, but neither of us could fit it onto the square. Luckily, Supernatural has always been lousy with symbols, so we went with one of our other favorites, the Tulpa (pictured below). If you’re not familiar with the show, you can read more about its significance in the old post from 2014. Short version:

The Tulpa is a Tibetan symbol and concept in which a creature is conjured by the sheer will of spiritual and mental discipline….

Book Club: The Handmaid’s Tale Pt. 2

I had mentioned last week that I’d do Matched for this week’s book club. But now that I’ve finished The Handmaid’s Tale (both book and show), it turns out there is just a lot more to discuss. So I’ll do Matched next week. I’ve started it and the jury is still out on it, but it’s got potential. So more on that next week.

Ritual Sacrifice

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m spending my day at my inlaw’s house eating myself into oblivion. Fun Fact: marrying into an Italian family really pays off at holiday meal time. I’m a little bummed this year that I won’t get to enjoy Black Friday shopping in all its glory, which is something I usually look forward to…

Supernatural Con 2014 (29)

Last weekend, Jac and I went out to scenic Whippany, NJ for Creation Entertainment’s Salute to Supernatural. If you you’ve been hanging out with us for the Geek-A-Long, then you probably know how we feel about the show. To prep for season 10, (which is supposed to have a musical episode!) we have been binge watching the first 9 seasons. We’re half way through season 7, and trying to pace ourselves to draw it out until 10 premiers next month. Season…

The Seven Rings Cowl: A Yarn Tasting

I wrote about the Seven Rings Cowl a couple of weeks ago when we were calling for testers, and I can’t tell you how wonderful it felt to get the kind of response we did. Thanks guys!

Without further ado, let’s talk about battling the forces of evil one single crochet at a time:

Patrolling graveyards at night in search of freshly risen vampires is a thankless job, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look fabulous!

Whether you’re Buffy the Vampire Slayer battling Hell or Dean Winchester climbing out of it, Dante was there first. Inspired by…

2014 Geek-A-Long: Supernatural

week 32 Supernatural (5)

Welcome to week 32 of the 2014 Geek-A-Long, a mystery blanket knit-along (or crochet-along for you rebels out there)! Can you believe there are only 16 more squares to go after this? Jac got on the Supernatural bandwagon a few years before me. To be fair, in 2004-2006 I…

Six Things Saturday

Here at Lattes and Llamas, we live for wool and bleed espresso. But, we’re also super nerdy. There’s the whole Geek-A-Long thing and then there’s our intense love of science and Supernatural. I mean, we talk about Misha Collins so often that at least one person per day stumbles onto our site looking for something about him.

::Waves:: Hello random Google searcher looking for things like “very young Misha Collins” and “Misha Collins killer face”! Your search terms are weird, but we don’t judge. This is a…

A Very Supernatural Christmas

Misha Collins as Castiel is my other husband.  So when I pointed out to Jac that we don’t have an angel for the top of our tree, she suggested I make a Castiel tree topper like the one seen above.

But that’s just not how I roll.  Why print something and cut it out when I can make it complicated and then knit a sweater for it?  No reason I can think of.  So, I made this:
