There are some fandoms with so much juicy content that one design isn’t enough. Jac did a post about this a while back, but here’s the cliff-notes version:
In the process of making the 2014 Geek-A-Long blanket, Megan-Anne and I often rejected multiple designs for a square before settling on the right one. Sometimes we actually liked a certain design more, but ultimately we had to put it aside when it didn’t fit the overall look of the blanket or when a better idea came alone.
I wish that I had time to make squares to my heart’s content, but I haven’t quite gotten a handle on Time Cube yet. I’m busy at work on our fall line, Kniterary (Fun fact: I’ll be debuting the first piece here within the next 2 weeks. It is a Cthulu inspired sweater vest made with Mountain Meadow Wool in Jackson and I am in love with how it turned out.) Jac is toiling away on the proposal for our choose-your-own-adventure style knitting pattern book, and of course real life keeps making demands of our time. So, we haven’t made samples of these alternate squares.
You have though, and they are spectacular.
The Dr. Who alts being shown off in our Ravelry Group look even better than I imagined they would. Way to go guys!
This week the official GAL square featured the Pac-Ghosts, and I am pleased to announce that we have an alternate for you as well. Click on the link below to download your Mrs Pac-Man PDF. I would do it in yellow and either black or red, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

You can find the full list of alternate squares here along with the other released squares. If you knit or crochet them, please share pics with us! We would love to see them. Email the pictures to our assistant, Dr. Daisy Espresso: dr.daisyespresso [at] gmail.com Or link to your finished alternate squares in the comments section of this post, so we can all oooh and ah together.
If you’re new to the GAL craziness, however, check out the Geek-A-Long FAQ page for more information. And don’t forget, we have a fancy new GAL Participation Button you can add to your blog or your Geek-A-Long posts. You can grab the html out of the side bar or find it here.
Real life just keeps getting in the way.
