Today, I'm controlling the things I can so I don't hyper focus on things I can't change. Instead of giving myself bangs, I'm refreshing the pictures in my entryway. Right now I'm looking through pictures from Rhinebeck, trying to find a good one of my niece. ⁠

I started knitting years ago to help manage my panic attacks and anxiety. Knit and remember you're not alone in this mess. Lose yourself in color work. Focus on small things that make you happy that they can't take from you. Here are mine:

1) The smell of fresh coffee beans.
2) The sound of crunching autumn leaves.
3) My cat's warm fur as he naps in a sunbeam.
4) Cheese.
5) Singing in the car with my sisters and niece.

The 4th of July is cancelled this year, on account of the Supreme Court reinstating the monarchy.

And yet, summer camp remains and today the kids were encouraged to wear red white and blue so the lunch bag frog* should do the same. Supporting queer and trans rights is patriotic AF.

I have a summer camp tradition of elaborate lunch bag decorations for Mabel the Merciless. I can't do it year round - these bags are a time sink, albeit a really fun one - but for 8 weeks in the summer I go to town with colored pencils. Mabel is in a passionate "frog girl phase" so we are having frog girl summer themed bags. I trace the frogs out of coloring books for the most part and then embellish and color them. Pro tip: do a big batch of tracings on some weekend and then each week night you can just pick a bag to color.
