Howdy, sock knitters! The great cast on event for the Untitled Goose Socks is only one week away, so I thought I’d drop by with a tutorial for those of you who will be knitting toe-up socks for the first time. The video I shot for Judy’s Magic Cast On is sort of long, but I wanted to make sure that complete beginners could 100% knit along with me.
For your convenience, I cultivated a list of video chapters, so you can jump forwards as needed:
01:00 Judy’s Magic CO
03:30 Knitting first Half of Rnd 1
05:14 Dealing with Knitting Twisted Stitches on Second Half of Rnd 1
06:37 Knitting Rnd 2 + How to Kfb (Increase 1 by knitting into front and back of a stitch)
08:56 Knitting Rnd 3 + Securing the End Set-Up
11:38 Knitting Rnd 4 + Finishing Securing the End
Also, I have fantastic news for those of you who missed out on getting an Untitled Goose Socks Kit before they sold out:
Untitled Goose Socks Kits ARE BACK IN STOCK
…with severely limited quantities. We were able to get more of the beads we needed to make more markers, but we ran out of the 50 gram skeins. Honestly, it’s just so hard to judge these things. We had no idea how many kits we would need going into the project announcement. We’ve toyed around with the idea of doing pre-orders only to ensure everyone has time to order theirs, but it feels weird to announce a project a couple months before you will ever lay hands on the pattern. I don’t know. Maybe we’ll give it a try for one of the other GAL Socks this year.
