Hello and happy Sunday Fiber Friends! I am writing this post while basking in a ray of sunshine because we finally have spring weather in Philadelphia! I’m not even remotely “outdoorsey” and I’m enjoying it from inside, but it’s shining through my delightfully open windows, and even an indoor cat like me will get out for a walk now and then. It’s also perfect knitting outside weather, and that’s one of the few things that will get me out in the dangerous rays of the daystar. Nothing can compare to sitting outside in great weather and knitting.
And what better to knit than the last section of our Oregon Trail socks?!?! I feel like knitting them outside is very much in the spirit of the socks. We’ve made it to clue 4, and I don’t know about you guys, but the last 4 weeks feel like they’ve flown by. I think that’s a good thing. After the time warp of the last few years, part of me is enjoying the sensation of feeling time start to move again.
I’ve decided to hold on to the final reveal photos for next week so I can take new ones side by side with the pair I’ve been knitting along in real time this year. And since we’re at the end of our first pair for the year, it’s a good time to tell you what to expect for the schedule moving forward:
- Week 1: Theme reveal and kits available.
- Week 2: Project sheet with gauge swatch released
- Weeks 3-6: Pattern released in 4 installments (leg 1, foot 1, leg 2, foot 2)
- Week 7: Wrap up, full pattern download available, and community photos.
So next week is week 7 for the Oregon Trail Socks and I’m really excited about showing off some of the photos you’ve all been posting on social media. Make sure to tag any photos on Instagram with #GeekALong22 so I can find your photos and show them off next week, and in just 2 weeks we’ll be revealing the videogame inspiration for the second pair!
View Oregon Trail: Clue 4 by clicking the button below. When you download the pattern from our website instead of through Ravelry, you will NOT receive automatic updates. You will have to come here and download the next clue every time. Please download it via Raverly if you are able, so you have immediate access to the clues as they are released and any errata that may appear.
