For those you keeping track at home, you’ll notice two things. First, the Week 6 post should have gone up last Sunday. Second, today is Saturday.
I don’t know if you guys are familiar with Spoon Theory — it’s a metaphor that is used to describe the amount of mental or physical energy a person has available for daily activities and tasks — but I’ve had less spoons than usual lately. It’s been hard the past couple months not being able to fly home and be with my mom after she had to have emergency surgery. However, earlier this past week she was finally declared well enough to get the follow up surgery! I said this a day ago on Instagram, but it’s still true: I feel like a teenage girl in a young adult novel who releases a breath she didn’t know she was holding. I always thought that was such a cliché, but I get it now.
Sorry, YA authors!
Mom had the surgery and, while the doctor is optimistic about her recovery, we get to play the waiting game again to see if she’ll get to put all of this behind her or not. As a result though, I did wake up with more spoons today than I’ve had in a while. I revamped a 2015 Geek-A-Long square for you this morning to get us back on schedule and plan to tackle another one tomorrow. So, without further adieu, I present to you Dr. Thaddeus “Rusty” Venture from the cartoon The Venture Brothers.
“Son of the famous scientist, Dr. Jonas Venture Sr., and father of Hank and Dean Venture, Rusty is the poster child for underdog nerds. He spent his life trying to get out of his father’s shadow, and though he is arguably one of the greatest (if not most ethical) scientific minds of his era, conventional scientific communities shun him. Say what you will about his inventions, anyone that can clone his sons that many times has got to be a genius. And let’s not forget about his work as a philanthropist! His work with the Scrotal Safety Commission is saving lives, one testicle at a time.”
~ Megan-Anne, week 5 of the 2015 Geek-A-Long
You can read the original blog post about Dr. Venture [week 5 of 2015] by clicking this link. That post also contains a preview of the pattern and a download button like the one below for you to snag the pattern of Dr. Thaddeus “Rusty” Venture for yourself.
There are a few other things I plan to catch up on this coming week as well, which includes a huge yarn sale, a store update, and couple of pattern releases. Until then, I hope all of you wake up tomorrow with more spoons.

I am SO excited that you are revamping all the oversized squares! There were a bunch I wanted to include on my first project: a baby blanket for my soon to be first born. And now I’ll be able to!
