I hope you guys are ready for the full blunt of my adoration for autumn, color work, and fingerless mitts. As I mentioned when I released the Cat Nouveau Cowl a couple weeks ago, I have this crazy backlog of color work charts that are begging to be turned into knitted accessories. Harvest Melody is the first of three fingerless mitt designs with fall vibes I’ll be releasing leading up to Halloween. And yes, they’ll get a bit spookier as time goes on.
When there isn’t enough room to wear your autumnal heart on your sleeve, Harvest Melody let’s you show it off on your mitts. With oak leaves at the cuff, acorns on the palms, and piles of pumpkins on the back of the hands, you’ll be ready for crisp fall mornings, apple cider, and the changing leaves.
The Harvest Melody mitts are worked in the round with stranded knitting, using either long circular needles to work in Magic Loop or DPNs. This pattern is recommended for knitters who have experience with stranded colorwork, knitting in the round, and reading charts.

About the Pattern
Recommended Yarn: Three skeins of Lattes & Llamas Interlude Yarn (100 grams/ 438 yards) or a comparable fingering weight yarn in three colorways. Sample is shown in ‘Palpatine’ as Color A, ‘Mrs. Hudson’ as Color B, and ‘Hep Alien’ as Color C.
- Color A: 35 grams/ 153 yards
- Color B: 11 grams/ 48 yards
- Color C: 18 grams/ 78 yards
When choosing your yarn, make sure that Colors B and C contrast strongly with Color A. I recommend taking a photograph of the yarns together, and then changing it into black and white to see if the colors contrast strongly enough.
Needles: US1 / 2.25 mm to work in Magic Loop or size needed to obtain gauge.
I prefer the Magic Loop method when knitting mitts. If you are more comfortable using DPNs or two circulars, this pattern is easily converted.
Sizing: One Size — 9 inches long and 8 inches in circumference after blocking. Instructions are included to modify the size of your mitts by going up or down a needle size.
Unrelated, but very important, Megan-Anne’s coffee pot broke this morning. She’s been sending me texts all morning about how she’s in mourning now. Part of me suspects that its all a ploy to make me feel bad for her so that I’ll finally give in and gift my pair of Harvest Melody mitts to her…
