Dishes might be boring, but your washcloths don’t have to be! Jazz up your routine with bright handmade washcloths that make a perfect gift for yourself, or that impossible to shop for person on your list.

I’m releasing these to celebrate Pride month, and I know I’m a little late on that. I have no concept of time anymore. But to celebrate all of the brave, amazing, gorgeous members of the LGBTQ+ community, Rainbow Rags is free on Ravelry until the end of July 2020 (specifically until 11:59PM EDT on July 31st, 2020).

The pattern is a simple garter row repeat. The mitered square begins with a long cast on, followed by decreases every right side row to create a square made of visually appealing chevrons.
Get bold with your color choices, adding as few or as many colors as you want.
Included in the pattern is a simple tutorial for managing ends when working with cotton yarn, and links to our free tutorials on the cast on and crochet edge are embedded in the instructions.

I’m going through a cotton phase right now, and this Wednesday we’ll be starting up a new cotton sock for the L&L Book Club: Dresden Files Binge. The Never Never Socks use our new(ish) Baah-Free yarn. For this pattern I wanted a small amount of bold rainbow hues, so I ordered some Scheepjes Catona Minis from Yarn.com.

They didn’t sponsor this review, but I will say I was very happy with the yarn. At $2.99/25g mini, I got all 6 colors for my washcloths for less than $20 (well, really more like $25 after shipping, but I don’t count shipping generally when I consider if a yarn is a good value). The minis are a great way to get started with cotton and to buy just a little bit of colors I’m not likely to reuse much. I made 3 cloths, but could have easily gotten a 4th out of the 6 balls.
