It’s right there in the name: Dungeons & Dragons. You go into dungeons and you fight dragons. While it is true that many games I have been in did neither, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t want to play a dragon. That’s one of the reasons why I DM games, so I can pretend to be a gigantic powerhouse, hoarding treasure that the heroes have to take down. I like being a dragon. I was thrilled when 4th edition let us play as a Dragonborn. They even put it right there on the cover of the Player’s Handbook. Sure, it wasn’t a true dragon, but it felt great to breathe fire on your enemies.
There are other RPG games that allow you to play a dragon. Rifts and Savage Rifts let you play a dragon straight out of the gate. A legit dragon with magic and power! The problem is that you’re about three weeks old and plenty of people want to take you out before you get any older. Then there is the game Epyllion, where you play a clutch of young dragons trying to figure out who to trust while fighting off the Darkness using teamwork and friendship. It’s delightful game and I recommend it highly.
So go out there and love your dragons. As the Geek-A-Long wraps up, I encourage you to find a small group of four or five to nerd out with while knitting and playing D&D. Share your stories and adventures.
Jac will be back next week to talk about how she joined our D&D blanket together. Also, it’s super weird to be posting the final square in the middle of the year, yet here we are. Once Jac is done giving you the low down on assembly and sharing the final photos of the blanket, we’ll be ready to start our new Geek-A-Long adventure in the form of a sweater on August 2nd, which coincidentally is my birthday! Details will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. We’ll give you plenty of time to pick out your yarn and check your gauge for our next great adventure. I can’t wait to share this with you guys!
Whether you’re knitting, crocheting, or cross stitching this square, you can download the Dragon pattern here. Instructions and charts for both knit and crochet are listed in the pattern. When you’re finished making it, don’t forget to Instagram your squares at us @lattesandllamasyarn with the hashtag #geekalong! Want to hang out with other people making the blanket? You can find moral support in the Geek-A-Long group on Ravelry here.
