Since late July, I’ve been thinking about autumn leaves, boots, and pumpkin spice lattes. It’s been nothing but heat wave after heat wave, and I’m done. I miss my array of comfy accessories and chunky sweaters. Call me ‘basic’ if you want, but I’ve bowed at the altar of autumn since I was a wee lass. I know what I like, and it’s a brisk morning with a pumpkin spice latte in my hands and leaves crunching under my boots. So, in an effort to knit summer into submission, I started designing hats using Beefcake, our bulky weight yarn. The first of which is Vendimia.
Vendimia was designed to not only display gorgeous hand-dyed yarns, but also to be the perfect hat to knit as a quick, last-minute gift. Because of the use of ribbing throughout, you can knit happily without knowing the recipient’s exact size. This hat is well suited to new knitters looking to cast on their first hat or for experienced knitters who want to churn out a quality hand-knit present.

I am OBSESSED with how this colorway knit up. It was actually really hard for me to decide what color fur pompom to use. And, it knitted up so quickly that I didn’t have much time to mull on it. From cast on to bind off, I’m pretty sure I had this hat knit in under two hours. Normally, I like the contrast of a white pompom, but oh boy– This green fluff boy is perfect! It really pulls out those pops of lime green in the yarn.
To be honest, the longer I look at it, the more I’m filled with regret for promising to give it to Megan-Anne. I guess that means I just need to knit one for myself though. Oh the things I do for my art and family. ::wink::

The key to a perfect PSL is to get the extra shot of espresso. Trust me.
