The first time I watched Bob’s Burgers, my husband and I were insanely sick. We were in bed, accusing each other of being the one to bring this plague into the house and trying to find something to watch on TV, when he suggested that we binge Bob’s Burgers. I think there were two seasons on demand at the point. I wasn’t interested though because I thought it would be like Family Guy, but he convinced me to give it a chance.
Actually, he was the one who got out of bed to get us ice cream, so he got to pick the show. But whatever.
Anyway, it turned out that it was nothing like Family Guy, and it’s my favorite ever.
Bob’s Burgers is an animated sitcom about the Belcher family — Bob, Linda, and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise. They run a burger restaurant in a seaside town that has a New Jersey boardwalk vibe. Although, they never quite say that they’re located in Jersey.
Bob is pessimistic, long-suffering, and is often the more sensible one. Although, he does have a flare for giving his burger creation’s clever pun names, and he can be stubborn and petty. You know, like the time he decides that he’d rather stay stuck in the wall of his home/restaurant than to spend the weekend with his in-laws. Meanwhile, Linda exudes optimism and enthusiasm. She’s supportive of her family — even her sister’s weird and creepy animal butt paintings — and goes at everything full throttle.
“I’m gonna write a parenting book. I’ll call it: ‘Hey You, I Saw That, Put It Back!’”
Linda in “The Kids Run Away”
Tina, the eldest of the Belcher children, is a socially awkward teenager, who just really wants to touch boy butts. She loves, zombies, boys, butts, unicorns, and horses. She’s a naive, sweetheart that just wants to write fan-fiction. Of course, sometimes it’s erotic friend-fiction about her on again off again crush and boyfriend, Jimmy Junior, but that’s a different story.
“I’m no hero, I put my bra on one boob at a time like everyone else.”
Tina in “Tina Tailor Soldier Spy”
Gene is the friendly and carefree middle child, who “helps” the restaurant by dressing up in a hamburger costume. He’s a performance artist with a Casio keyboard and deep love for his mommy and music. See also his rendition of Die Hard the Musical and the dinner murder mystery theater he performed with his mom, Linda.
“We’re Belchers, from the womb to the tomb!”
Gene Belcher in “Bad Tina”
Louise. Oh, Louise. Don’t let those cute pink ears fool you. She is mischievous and manipulative, often using her older siblings in her schemes. She shows her love by using her cunning, logic, and lock picking skills to help those she cares about. She has been known to take it all little too far from time to time and goes overboard, but the prankster never really sets out to hurt anyone.
“Hey, I don’t appreciate your lack of sarcasm.”
Louise Belcher in “Bob and Deliver”

BOB: We’re about to die, Louise. Do you really want your last words to be sarcastic?
