Golly, It’s A Jolly Birthday! (Sale alert)

I’ve done SO MUCH in the last few weeks, but I know it doesn’t really seem that way since I’ve mostly been radio silent. But that’s basically because I can’t stop knitting long enough to actually post anything. Seriously in 2 weeks I’ve nearly finished 2 sweaters, cast on a 3rd, and designed a 4th. I also turned 35. I typically get sort of mopey around my birthday, but this year I’ve been motivated. There aren’t enough hours in the day and I’ve been staying up way too late to knit and I’m just knocking things out. Before I get to the part of this post that involves big fat discounts for you, I wanted to mention that I’ll be putting an amazing new design, the Marry Me Darcy Sweater, into testing next week. If you want in on that make sure you are subscribed to our shiny new newsletter, because that’s where I’ll be putting out the word that testing is open moving forward.

My birthday has also put me in the mood to revisit some of my older patterns. Some I think I want to rework a bit, update the patterns and make new samples, and some I just forgot how fun they were. I go through phases as a designer and I’m all in on sweaters right now, but a few years ago I was obsessed with socks. I’ve had a lot of fun with socks over the years, and one of my all time favorite collections is Jolly.

Fun fact: I was very pregnant with Mabel the Merciless when we took these photos. Jac had to do some camera-gymnastics to keep my belly’s shadow out of the pics.

To celebrate my plans to make 35 a year of some of my best patterns yet, I wanted to have a great big sale on some of my favorites. Last week, Moon Landing was 50% off, and this week you can score the Jolly E-Book for 50% off through end of day 8/19, no coupon code needed! I’ve got 2 more weeks of 50% off patterns planned, so if you’re looking to add to your queue this is the time to do it.

Jolly celebrates everything I love about the holidays, but is a perfect year-round treat.

Blueberry Blintz socks, with their dainty lace and glittery beads, tell the world that you are done letting Elsa have all the accessory fun. I’m not saying wearing them will grant you unrestrained ice-queen powers, but I’m not saying they won’t either.

I spend ages hunting for adult sized lace frilly socks like the ones I had as a kid. I never found them though, and that’s crap. Who deserves poofy lace socks more than us?! No one. That’s who. The frilly lace ageism ends here! This fun ruffled sock is perfect for putting the children in your life to shame over how you wear it better.

Nothing makes an outfit ready for fall like a great pair of knee socks. Just like their namesake, Cranberry Sauce, these socks are 50% sweet, 50% tart, and 100% awesome.

Pumpkin Pie socks, with their textured toe and heel and lace chevrons, are the perfect go-to sock for everyday wear. Coincidentally, Pumpkin Pie is the perfect go-to snack for everyday pie consumption.

Last, but certainly not least, we have Jello-Mold. Not unlike their gelatinous namesake, these are perfect for when you want some no-fuss instant gratification. This pattern is so quick and easy that you can polish it off in a weekend, and is the sort of simple vanilla sock that you’ll find yourself knitting again and again.

I knit up my Jolly collection in Vacation Yarn. Since these are all simple lace or textured socks, they are a great opportunity to use up that wild skein of yarn that you buy, but don’t always know what to do with.

I’ll be back next week with testing calls, and another birthday month flash sale. In the meanwhile, I give everyone permission to call out of work for mandatory self-care knitting days. I’ll be happy to provide your employers with a note. I am a doctor after all*.

Don’t forget to Instagram your L&L project pics at us @lattesandllamasyarn @doctor_llama, and @jac_attacking! We love to see your projects in the wild.
