Call for Testers: The Queen Bee Pullover

Hi, knitters! I’ve got an open call for testers for my newest design, the Queen Bee Pullover. You can sign up to test on the Lattes & Llamas Ravelry Forum in this thread.

The Queen Bee uses Geek-A-Long Yarn, which is basically my go-to sweater yarn these days. I’m basically GAL yarn obsessed. It’s the best of all worlds. It’s sport weight, so it’s light enough to make a sweater that I can wear through most of the year, but doesn’t have the commitment factor of a fingering weight sweater. I want to want to make fingering weight sweaters. But they take foreeeeeeeeeeeeever. And the charts repeat so many times that it’s harder to track.

I actually started a Squirrel Girl inspired design a while back, in fingering weight, but am remaking it in GAL yarn. The fingering version didn’t fit quite right, and the fabric was too light and airy for the look I wanted. I know a lot of knitters love a fingering weight sweater, but I just don’t have that kind of attention span. Beginning to end, I knit Queen Bee in about 2.5 weeks. I get cast-it-on-its way before I’ll finish a fingering weight garment.

Queen Bee had one false start due to color choices, but luckily I realized early on in the first sleeve that my original color choices didn’t have enough contrast. After that, it just flew off my needles. I worked it bottom up, and it turns out I 100% love working color work yoke sweaters from the bottom up. It’s my yarn jam. I loved getting the sleeves and body out of the way first so that after finishing the yoke, the part that hyped me up the most, I got to go straight to wearing it. My planned photo shoot got snowed out, so I haven’t done the final project photos yet. I did, however, take some really fun ones in the snow. Plus, the Queen Bee has inspired some of the most magnificent text conversations regarding my inability to take a sweater selfie:
