For the last three Geek-A-Long premium patterns, we wanted to make sure to give you things that are handy for holiday knitting. A month ago, I released the Telepathy Hat and debuted our new extra chunky Beefcake Yarn. This time of year we all need some extra fast projects. Over the summer, I started dreaming up a few fast, easy, affordable (one – two skein) projects and basically, nothing beats a bulky yarn hat for those crap, I forgot I said I’d make you something moments. You can see my Raven inspired hat here. I’ve got one more fast, fun hat to drop on you, and for the final Premium Geek-A-Long pattern next month, Megan-Anne has the fastest garment you’ve ever had the privilege of knocking out in under a week or two. For this month, I wanted to show a little more love to one of our favorite fandoms: Harry Potter. We did four Harry Potter squares on the first GAL blanket. Earlier this year we visited it again with our Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them square.
Like, sure, we’ve had five Harry Potter squares, which is more than any other fandom. But the more I thought about it, the more I felt like we just weren’t done yet. We probably still aren’t. But for this one, I wanted to show some love to the less-represented houses. Look, I don’t mean anything against you Ravenclaws and Gryffindors out there. You’re awesome. Keep doing you. But, let me tell you, it can be sort of awkward to walk into a room of girls who all identify as Ravenclaws and be the odd Slytherin out. Megan-Anne’s husband is a Hufflepuff, and he sees even less representation. Basically, the cool kids all get sorted to Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. But here’s the thing, I think there might be a lot of closet Puffs out there.
Yeah, we see you, strategically placing yourself by the buffet table at your friend’s wedding. All the other singles at the table start talking about how they are Ravenclaws. They’re the smart kids, and you don’t want to look like you aren’t a smart girl (which, by-the-by, you ARE smart, my Hufflepuff Princess). So you sorta mumble,
“Mmm-hmmm. Yeah. Me too. Like, I don’t even know where the kitchen is here.”
Girl, we see you. You are a Puff. You are a freaking Honey Badger. You are fierce, loyal, and if you want a cookie, you eat a cookie, and that does literally nothing to diminish your bravery, ambition, or intelligence. So rise up Puffs, this hat is for you! I used one skein of Beefcake yarn in Honey Badger, and I think this one would look equally really nice on our Syltherin friends too when knit up in Malfoy.
You can get the Honeydukes Hat pattern for free by clicking the buy now link below AND entering the code ‘HUFFLEPUFF’ at check out. Please note that sometimes the links take you straight to your Paypal cart. We can’t control that; I think it’s related to whether or not you are actively logged into Ravelry when you click it. When that happens, you won’t be offered the option of entering the coupon code. Should that occur, just cancel out of that sale, log into Ravelry and purchase that hat there so you can enter the coupon code. This coupon code will expire one year and a day from today, at which point it will be $6 USD.
A PDF will be emailed to you by Ravelry. You don’t need to be a Ravelry member to purchase the pattern, but if you are, the PDF will show up in your library

True Story: I can think of two people offhand that publicly say they are Ravenclaw, but are Hufflepuffs when the doors are closed. If we can’t be who we really are at Hogwarts, then what hope is there for the real world? Also. Go vote on Tuesday. The Ministry of Magic needs your voice to be heard.
Super awesome. I’m a Ravenclaw (especially taking school-years-me into consideration) but a lot of my close friends are Hufflepuff (whether they admit it or not).
My husband and I went to one of the Harry Potter film concerts last year. Before it began, the conductor had the audience cheer for their house. There were only a few Slytherins, but there were definitely more Hufflepuffs than anything else. We’re both Ravenclaw, but it’s good to see more people showing Hufflepuff pride!
