Camp Wannaknit: Smoke Rings

Welcome to Camp Wannaknit! My name is Megan-Anne and I’ll be your camp counselor for the evening. I’ll be taking the Knit Cabin over to the Arts & Crafts area to learn how to do the two-color brioche cast on. But first, let’s warm up by the fire. It can get cold up here in the mountains at night.

The simple brioche stitch pattern on the top of the mitts created subtle stripes that are especially stunning when knit with a hand-dyed variegate (like the limited edition Camp Wannaknit colorway shown in the photo above) or speckle paired with a semi-solid like Winterfell. The garter row palm isn’t true garter rows, you will work in the round, purling every other round.

I mentioned this on Instagram, but I thought I’d repeat it here for those of you who don’t get down with the ‘Grams. (Although, you should totally consider it since Jac is giving away yarn every week this summer!) Working on the Camp Wannaknit patterns has been so much fun for me. Many of my projects throughout the year are large and involved like the Geek-A-Long. For Camp Wannaknit, I wanted to create a collection of pieces that are quick, low maintenance knits that you can knit in a few sittings that have simple stitch patterns and not complicated sizing. I hope each one of my Camp Wannaknit patterns will be a little mental vacation for you.
