2017 Geek-A-Long Giveaway: WEBS

Woohooo, it’s the first Geek-A-Long Giveaway of the year! Normally, we like to horde a bunch of prizes until the end and raffle them off to the three lucky winners for completing their GAL blankets on time, but we’re changing things up for 2017. You might’ve read the announcement about it on Monday. We don’t have room to store your goodies anymore. Instead, on the second Friday of every month, we’ll share a prize one of our benefactors sent to us along with three simple steps you need to follow in order to win.

I know what you’re thinking:

But, Jac. It’s already March. What about our prizes from January and February?

We wanted to give people time to finish their 2016 blankets, and for there to be a selection of 2017 squares available for you to pick from. But, I understand where you’re coming from. That’s why we’ll be giving away four prizes this month. Three people will win a $25 gift card to WEBS and one person will get a gift card plus four skeins of Southampton Valley Yarns!

Made from 72% Kid Mohair and 28% Mulberry Silk, this yarn is super-soft with an excellent halo. Like all great lace weight mohair yarns, it can be worked at multiple gauges or be plied with other yarns to kick them up a notch. More importantly most of the fiber comes from this majestic creature:

Mohair actually comes from the Angora Goat, which is not to be confused with Angora Rabbits. (For the longest time I thought mohair was the name of the breed of goat. It isn’t!) Angora Goats are delightfully adorable. I mean, look at those floppy ears! I want ten of them. This guy looks as if he belongs in a fantasy novel as a plucky gnome’s faithful steed. His name would probably be Harold.

Basically, what I’m saying here is that whoever wins these four squishy puff balls of yarn, will be knitting something fantastical. You’re welcome.

Alright, knitting nerds. This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! All you have to do is follow the three easy steps below and you might win a slice of Angora Goat heaven.

1. Knit or crochet a 2017 Geek-A-Long square from weeks 1-12 or the bonus GAL square provided as part of your GAL Guild subscription. You can find a comprehensive list HERE, which does not include weeks 11 or 12. They’re not out yet.
2. Go to the Geek-A-Long Ravelry group and share your square in the special 2017 Display Case Giveaway thread by 11:59 PM EST on March 22, 2017. You may submit only one square, but your name will go into the hat twice if you used Lattes & Llamas Geek-A-Long Yarn to make it. Once a square is submitted it may not be used in another drawing.
3. Come back to Lattes & Llamas blog on the last Monday of the month, March 27th, to find out if you won!
