Rayman is a classic video game released in Playstation’s early years. The 2D graphics were beautiful and the side-scroller game started out easy until it was suddenly impossibly hard. Of course, if you ask Megan-Anne, Rayman isn’t an armless, legless, neckless guy, who has to save his world from Mr. Dark one punch at a time with the aid of this cool helicopter powers. She thought Rayman was the faceless owner of the Raving Rabbids. It made for a really awkward conversation when I showed her the design I came up with for this square.
Her: I thought we were doing Rayman.
Me: This is Rayman.
Her: Jacquline, I love you. But that does not look like a rabbit at all.
Me: …
Me: …
Me: …
Me: You know Rayman is a game, right?
Her: Yeah, Raymans Raving Rabbids.
Me: Right, but that’s the spin off of the original Rayman.
Her: What was it called? I’ve never heard of it.
Me: Rayman. It was called Rayman.
Her: oh…
When the first Rayman video game came out in 1995, it was considered one of the best 2D platformers in the history of gaming. Almost ten years later, the critically acclaimed Rayman Legends debuted and it’s still a fun, colorful, melodic, and difficult game, but Legends has the ability to drop in and out of co-op mode and you can revive your partner. If you’re looking for a video game to play with your kids, it’s a great choice. Or, in my case, it’s a blast to play with your husband on a Sunday afternoon still in your pajamas with a bowl of popcorn.

“Hi folks! You wanna know what’s going on? Let me tell you the story of Rayman! In Rayman’s world, nature and people lived together in peace. The Great Protoon provides and maintains the harmony and balance in the world. Sorry folks, this apparently can’t last. One fateful day, the evil Mr Dark steals The Great Protoon and defeats Betilla the fairy as she tries to protect it! The Electoons, who used to gravitate around it, lose their natural stability and scatter all over the world! Troublesome, isn’t it? And untidy too. In this now unbalanced world, strange phenomena begin to occur, freaks and hostile characters appear, capturing every Electoon they can find! They definitely need a hero to save them now…don’t you think? RAYMAN TO THE RESCUE!!!!” – The Magician (Rayman)
