Are you one for action and not words? Do you have a strange sixth sense for the supernatural, which seems to come alive when a certain albino whale is near? Did a coffee company name itself after you? Are you honored that Kara Thrace from Battlestar Galactica uses your name as her call sign? Well, even if you’re name isn’t Starbuck, you can feel and look just as awesome as all of the other Starbucks in the First Mate Beanie. The piece is made top down in continuous rounds with bulky yarn. The texture is created with a simple stitch repeat, making it quick and easy to work up.

I used one skein of Classic Elite Yarns Wynter in Steel Blue. It’s a super soft alpaca and wool blend with fantastic stitch definition. I enjoyed working with it and would definitely recommend it as a go-to for casual, high-end bulky weight yarn.

“I am game for his crooked jaw, and for the jaws of Death too, Captain Ahab, if it fairly comes in the way of the business we follow; but I came here to hunt whales, not my commander’s vengeance. How many barrels will thy vengeance yield thee even if thou gettest it, Captain Ahab? It will not fetch thee much in our Nantucket market.” – First Mate Starbuck
