Currently Crushing On

Hello and good morning! How are you as we enter the final stretch of October? I was doing awesome. For the first time in my adult life, I managed to purchase Halloween candy for the trick-or-treaters a week in advance instead of scrambling to get it the day of, but now it turns out there was a reason why I wait until the last minute: my dear husband, who is currently laying in bed moaning, “Why did you let me do this to me?”

Normally, my husband is the responsible one in our relationship since I’m the hurricane of crazy.

Megan-Anne at my wedding to my husband: “She’s your problem now.”

But apparently when he said he planned to take this week off to play Destiny 2 when it released and relive his teenage years, he freaking meant it. It’s been nothing but Doritos and Code Red Mountain Dew in my house. At some point yesterday evening while I was was photographing new designs with Megan-Anne, he ran out of chips, didn’t eat the cob salad I left for him, and decided to gorge himself on Butterfingers instead. Now he has a tummy ache.

To which I dryly replied, “Oh no. Who could have foreseen this turn of events?”

Then, our cat mewed and I pretended like he was agreeing with me instead of just bugging me for breakfast.

Alright, back to the final stretch of October. On Monday, we’ll be releasing the Linvilla Pullover just in time for comfy knits for your pint-sized friends! And I gotta say, I’m seriously crushing on the different color combos our test knitters have chosen. The ones in the photo above are Alistair and Kasterborous. You can stalk them in their beautiful work on Raverly in the Lattes & Llamas group.

To be honest, Alistair is a personal favorite of mine. That grey goes with everything and it has this way of elevating the colorways around it.

My other crushes this week include Knitgraffiti. Have you seen Lesley Anne Robinson’s brioche designs? They are TO DIE FOR. You can find her work on Ravelry. Her aesthetic is going to make our Interlude Yarn shine and I’m already trying to decide which colorways I plan to knit the design with after its released. She showed me a sketch of what she plans to do and I was like, “YES. TAKE MY YARN. WHEN DO I GET TO KNIT THIS TOO?”

Actually, that was what I screamed on the inside when I wasn’t telling myself, “Be cool soda-pop.” But what we can all agree on is that it’s going to be awesome and I will keep you updated on the pattern’s release.

Speaking of pattern updates! Ambah O’Brien released lovely preview pics of the ADVENTurous Wrap KAL, which casts on December first. We have a Neutral and a Jewel Tone Advent Yarn Calendar that we designed to go along with this project. I’m so happy with the way they turned out. I’m supposed to close the pre-orders today, but Megan-Anne convinced me to leave it open for another week since she had a few people reach out to her, asking for a little more time.

Last, but definitely not least, the Harvelle Hat. This was one of the projects Megan-Anne and I photographed yesterday, and it has a special place in my heart. I originally designed this hat for my stepdad last Christmas and my husband loved it so much, I knitted one in Alistair for him. Now that it’s hat knitting season again, I decided that it was time to share it with the world. I had planned to release it tomorrow and celebrate by knitting it in another colorway during our Stranger Things viewing party. One can never have enough samples. But, Megan-Anne is trying to convince me to add a child-sized version too. We’ll see if she can get me to cave at our D&D game tonight.

For now, I’m off to mail orders and pop by the store to stock up on Eggos and chocolate pudding for the party tomorrow. And apparently antacids for a certain someone too!

Of course, the whole point of the Advent Yarn Calendar is that you’ll have a fun yarn-y surprise every day in December to open leading up to Christmas Day, so we didn’t release any photos of the colors. BUT we’ve also had a few people email us wanting a sneak peek, so I’m torn. Do you guys want to see some colorway spoilers? Let me know in the comment section.

You being your husband’s ‘problem now’ reminds me of every time my brother in law would complain about something my sister did/does. My response? “You picked her. I’m stuck with her.”
