Thankful Thursday-Part 2

Last week Jac and I introduced Thankful Thursdays. As the year draws to a close, we want to take some time out each week to show our gratitude. And what better way to say thanks than with a free pattern? So for the second installment of Thankful Thursdays, I bring you Fingerish Mitts:

Finger-ish Gloves (2)

Fingerless mitts are cute, but I don’t actually like wearing them. They sort of flop around on my hands. I won’t apologize for my weirdness on this. But I like the freedom that not having your fingers stuck inside the glove or mitten provides. My solution is to start knitting fingers, and then stop half way through.

Don’t look at me like that. This isn’t about getting bored with the fingers. Honest. ;)

If you’ve been hanging out with us for a while, it probably won’t surprise you that before we go any further I’d like to direct your attention to Child’s Play Charity. As the Holidays come closer I have so much to be thankful for, but for lots of kids, Christmas is just another day in a hospital. Child’s Play provides children’s hospitals and domestic violence shelters with video games. Mario and Princess Peach won’t cure cancer, but they can make having it a little less crappy. Just like our Geek-A-Long patterns, all of the Thankful Thursday pattern downloads are free. We just ask that if you have a few dollars to spare, please consider making a donation to Child’s Play by clicking THIS LINK. No donation is too small.

Finger-ish Gloves (1)

I actually designed these to compliment the Mentolat Scarf by Jocelyn Tunney. I am seriously obsessed with that scarf. To date, I’ve made at least six or seven. It’s basically my go-to gift. My handsome husband is modeling the scarf and mitts in the photos here, but this black and grey one and the mitts are actually en-route to my brother as an early Christmas present (now that he’s moved from California to Chicago and finds himself a little chilly). This Mentolat Scarf is one of two that will wind up under my tree this year.

These mitts are a great gift for a guy and you could pair them with any hat or scarf. The pattern technically calls for one ball of each color, but you won’t go through nearly that much. Three or four mini-skeins would get the job done, and they are a great way to use up yarn left over from another project.

You can download the Fingerish Mitts by clicking the link. The pattern will download automatically. See you back here next week when I’ll be dropping some awesome bulky throw pillows on you!

This week I'm extra thankful for my husband, who has always supported my yarn addiction.
