garter stitch

Does everyone have their yarn, needles, and caffeinated beverage of choice? I’m rocking a triple grande cinnamon dulce latte in my new beaker mug.

Ready?

Then join me for Part 2 of How to Knit for Beginners.  If you follow me from Part One to Part Four, you’ll learn how to make a slip knot, cast on, do the knit and purl stitches, cast off, and use all of theses techniques to make a coaster. Today, I’ll cover how to do the knit stitch and garter stitch.

garter 8

You have now knit one stitch! Repeat this across the row and you’re in business. Stay tuned until next week and we’ll learn how to purl, which will make that nice flat stockinette stitch.
