Twinkle, Trunk Show, Sock Knitter, Spy

Man, it has been a crazy and busy few weeks! I’m deep in the trenches of Christmas knitting, and I’m probably not going to make it on all my projects, especially since I have one million things to do before we attend VK Live in NYC this January. I have a massive blanket and a long infinity scarf that will be finished, but I can’t show off pics yet since I’m not really sure how much of my family reads this.

I also have a really special project I’ve been working…

Mock Apple Pie Cowl

September is a difficult month for planning outfits. When I drop off my husband at work in the morning, it’s 50 degrees, I can see my breath, and the butt-warmer in my car is set to high. When I drop off packages at the post office in the afternoon, it’s 80 degrees outside and I have the air conditioner set to full arctic-blast. If you’re my mother, your suggestion would be to wear layers, specifically a light cardigan. That’s nice in theory until you take it off at your sister’s…

Conquering Christmas Knitting Part 2

Howdy, knitters and crocheters! Are you ready to get serious about finishing those Christmas gifts in time to actually give them to their recipients instead of a card with a sad IOU in it? If you answered yes, this post is for you. Today, I’m going to talk about the importance of making time for “selfish” knitting instead of spending the next 100 days focused on everyone, who isn’t you.

If you answered with a terrified enghh sound and are freaking out that there are exactly 100 days left until Christmas and 88 until the first day of Hanukkah, I need you…

Conquering Christmas Knitting Part 1

I’m not embarrassed to admit that since Starbucks let me have access to Pumpkin Spice Lattes again on September first, I’ve had four. My husband would be horrified if he found out. But I’m not sorry. Every time I sip one, I think about Thanksgiving with my Grandma when I was little and her trying not to laugh as I gave short lectures on the right whipped cream to pumpkin pie ratio.

The answer is equal parts, of course. Don’t be ignorant.

I love the fall. I love sweaters and thick socks, changing leaves, and apple picking. I got married in…

L&L Book Club: The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus

Week two of the L&L Book Club is underway and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how many knitters have joined us for our Shining Sequence Mittens MKAL. (You can catch week 1 here if you missed it.) I’ll talk more about the KAL’s progress in the project portion of this post, but I just want to say I’m really excited to find that so many other knitters love to make Christmas a year round event!

The Book

This week I technically read two stories, but one is really just a slightly overgrown poem….

L&L Book Club: Merry Christmas Alex Cross

Welcome to Christmas in July!

Our MKAL is underway and on the Ravelry Hot List as I type this! It’s always a big honor to make the top five, it’s like the perfect validation of my chosen profession.

Sometimes, I think I love Christmas in July just as much as regular Christmas, because celebrating it now feels like I’m getting away with something. I don’t know who the “man” is in this case, but I’m sticking it to him with my unrelenting cheer. That’ll teach him. I’m seriously…

Gilmore Cast On Party

All right ladies, gentlemen, and fellow java junkies, this is what we’ve trained for. We’re all recovering from our turkey fueled coma’s and possibly have bags under our eyes from Black Friday shopping even though we promised ourselves that we wouldn’t feed the corporate beast encroaching on Thanksgiving, but then Aunt Jan passed that flyer our way and we were like, “Dear god, yes. I do need to drop everything and go stand in line to snag this super sweet deal.” But we can get through this. Together.

The time is now 3:01 AM EST. The Gilmore Girls revival is officially…

Sooooocktober

Nixon was a sweating, filthy, liar, but he was right about one thing: Sock it to me! OK, to be fair, he seems somewhat apprehensive about the socking, but that’s just because he probably didn’t have any super comfy hand knit socks. Luckily, you and I don’t have that kind of problem. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first annual Lattes & Llamas Socktober!

It’s Socktober, stiches!

You get a sock! And you get a sock!! And you get a sock!!!

There are 84 knitting days left until Christmas and I’ve basically…

Merry Knitmas!

Merry Christmas, my fantastic fiber loving friends! I hope Santa brought you lots of squishy yarn and gorgeous knitting needles or crochet hooks. Or both if your multi-craftual like us.

If you’re “awesome” like me, you didn’t finish all of your holiday knitting on time and are secretly happy that your in-laws went to Puerto Rico over the holidays to visit family. Now you have an extra six days to finish that elaborate blanket you’re still crocheting. You know, the one that was supposed to be quick and simple, but you got bored with the design and made things over…

Thankful Thursdays-Part 5

Not to freak you out or anything, but there are only 21 days left until Christmas. I love Christmas more than I can possibly describe, but this time of year pretty much turns into a caffeine fueled frantic knit-a-thon while I promise myself that next year I’m totally going to start my gift knitting in June. And then I usually follow up that promise with with another promise that next year I’m going to make small things. It’ll be wrist warmers all around for Christmas 2016. ;)

Of course, I can’t even say that with a…
