Neither Jac or I have a wealth of experience with loom knitting, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable patterning for it. Sorry! If you do make one on a loom though, make sure and post pics to the ravelry group, I know everyone would love to see it! One of our chief pleasures at L&L is seeing the different ways folks are making the GAL squares :D.

I think I have worked out a method of looming the squares. if it works i will post a pic tutorial on ravelry in a few days

Normally, we try not to give a definitive yes or no on questions like these since we love the mystery aspect. But, as a big fan of Farscape, I have to say that I’m sad it didn’t make it this year.

I’m not going to ask if the square I’m hoping for will appear :) but I am wondering if this page will be updated? I find it easier to find the patterns from here rather than in Ravelry, for some reason.

    • Jacquline Cappuccino says:

Yes, normally I keep it updated (for the most part), but we’ve had a rough few weeks with an illness in the family. He’s doing better though and things should be getting back to normal around here! :D

      • singingsheep (on ravelry) says:

Oh, sorry to hear that! Please don’t think I was nagging. I hope everything is back to normal real soon. I love what you are doing here. :)

  2. Eleanor says:

I know it’s not good to ask about certain patterns, but since you’ve done the fire, water and air nation is there going to be an earth nation pattern?

I absolutely adore this project! <3
I'm such a geek and I've started knitting not too long ago, so this is perfect for me, especially since I'm sitting home because of a long term illness. Really keeps my mind of things, cause the patterns are complicated enough for a new knitter :) I love what you guys do! Please keep doing it :)

I’ve actually been following the GAL since week 2! I found you guys early on, but I’m a lifelong crocheter, so I’ve been crocheting all the squares. I’m learning how to knit now, though, so I’m hoping to be able to knit the 2015 GAL with you guys! Btw, I LOVE your entire blog and all your designs!

I can’t believe that I JUST found this! You have now cost my employer about an hours’s worth of productivity as I went through all of your back posts on this fantastic project. I’m going to play catch up for this year’s Geek-a-Long, and definitely be joining at the start for next year’s!

  6. Regina Bishop says:

These are great! Will you be adding the last of the squares to this page so they are all together? I just started them and don’t want to miss any. Your You Tube videos are great also. Can’t wait to see what the 2015 Geek a long is like. Thanks so much!

  7. Cyndi Cordner says:

How do i join the ravelry group for the gal? And how would i go about crocheting these since the patterns are all written for knitting?

    • Gina says:

Be sure to look up the 2014 Geek A Long too; it was great also. I am still working on it but am following the 2015 so that I can work it up when I finish the 2014 one.

  8. Heidi says:

Hello! I’ve only just found this, and as a pretty novice knitter i was wondering if i could just knit the squares normally instead of double knitting them? If so, do i just follow the pattern like normal?
    Thanks :D

    • Jacquline Cappuccino says:

Since you only need to knit 24 of the 48 squares in order to make an afghan, the placement is completely up to you. Do whatever you think looks the best. :D

    • Megan-Anne says:

We do not sell them. They are all available for free :). Click on any of the links above to go to a square. At the bottom of the post for each square is a link to download the free pattern. If you can, please consider making a donation to Child’s Play Charity.

Man am I late to the party! Though I just learned to knit a few months ago and crochet for two or so years. I fell in love with the beautiful fandom yarn and love this. I went through all the squares and know I want to make 121 so far. I’m not quiet to Nightmare Mode yet but I’m getting their. Itll be an amazing part of my nerdy nature. I’m looking forward to learn how to do color work. I think I’ll be practicing with some yarn scraps before I buy this yummy yarn.

Can I suggest a pattern?! I am in LOVE with Aggretsuko and it would be an AWESOME addition to your pattern library!

  11. Dusty Phillips says:

If you dont have a punch but have binders you can use sheet protectors for everything.. then you can have all the patterns for a GAL in one place along with the paper work of the squares and who you are making it for. I also find it helps to have a dry erase marker to keep track of the row and I can write down how many squares in the sequence are main and contrast colors for help when I have to pick up in middle of a row due to kids. I hope you can still continue with the GAL for years to come. I currently am still working on my brothers wedding gift (going on two years of marriage only have 6 squares done) Planning on knitting each square at least once even if I dont use the squares in a blanket I have them on hand to use up yarn stash (not allowed any more until I use up what I have)

  12. Kayla says:

I am the biggest Harry Potter fan so of course I LOVE all of your HP patterns and I am making a blanket from those. I would really love something from the Friends TV show since that is my other favorite. Thank you for all of your patterns!
