L&L Book Club presents: Hunting Sasquatch Part 1

As you read this I’m on my way to New Orleans! I’ve never been there and I’m pretty stoked about the trip. But not nearly as stoked as I am to say it’s finally time to go ‘Squatching!

The Book

This month we’re reading Working for Bigfoot by Jim Butcher. It’s a spin off of the Dresden Files, and written in three short stories. You don’t need to have read the Dresden Files before reading this, but if you are a fan of Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional Wizard, you’ll love this. Our Hunting Sasquatch MKAL is now officially underway, and the pattern will be delivered in three clues, one for each section of the book. The book follows the life of a Sasquatch’s son, and the first part gives us a glimpse into what it’s like to be a young bullied half-squatch. I think we can all relate to that. Working for Bigfoot is currently out of print, but you can get the audiobook at Audible, through Kindle, or at your local library. And it’s definitely worth the price. It’s a short book though, and chances are you’ll need additional reading material to get through the month. I’m looking forward with great anticipation to What Happened by Hilary Clinton, which I bought Tuesday, and plan on treating myself to it on the plane.

The Project

This is it! No more ado! Probably more exclamation points though!

The hunt for Sasquatch has begun.

Clue 1: 9/13/2017-Released!

Clue 2: 9/20/2017

Clue 3: 9/27/2017

The first clue has been released and you can purchase it by clicking the “buy it now” link:

The pattern is available for $1 for the next 48 hours until it will resume being $6. No coupon code is needed and the discount will apply automatically at checkout. Additionally, a limited time coupon for 10% off and regularly prices items in the Lattes & Llamas store is included, so you can get a Sasquatch kit of your very own or maybe some fancy yarn you’ve had your eye on. If you already purchased a Hunting Sasquatch Kit, you do NOT need to purchase the pattern. It is included in your kit and should be arriving in your inboxes as we speak, coupon and all. Whew. All the book keeping out of the way, let’s talk socks!

As we’ve been gearing up for this MKAL, I’ve released tutorials on all the skills you’ll need for a stress free, color work project. Check out the tips and tricks for 2-at-a-time-socks, the Twisted German Cast On, fair isles yarn management, perfect gauge swatches, and duplicate stitches.

Ha! Bet that last one caught you by surprise. The duplicate stitch tutorial is from the Shining Sequence MKAL, but you’ll need it in clue 3 of the Hunting Sasquatch MKAL to add some final details to the top of one sock. It’s gonna be awesome.

Make sure and show off your projects in the Hunting Sasquatch Ravelry thread, and if you share them on Instagram or twitter tag me at @Doctor_llama so I can revel in your glory! Use #huntingsasquatchsocks and #LandLMKAL so that everyone knitting along and lurking can see your work too.
