The best part about receiving prize donations from Knitters Pride, other than when they occasionally throw in stuff for me and Megan-Anne too, is not knowing what will show up on our doorstep. They ask how many prizes we need and then they basically recede into the shadows, chuckling to themselves while rubbing together their hands. It’s all very Cloak and Dagger.
They’ve sent us everything from their Nova Platina Cubics to their Karbonz DPNs, which you can read about here. This time they decided to kick the fanciness up a notch and sent a Royale Interchangeable Start Set.
Isn’t this case adorable?!
I actually own the larger set of these knitting needles, and I love them. The metal tip increases speed while the wood is comfortable and warm to the touch. Plus they’re gorgeous. I mean, look at how beautiful they look with my cowl*.
*Side Note: If you commented on this picture with a possible name for this pattern, I’m choosing one of your suggestion tomorrow after we photograph the finished piece. So you still have time to help me name this cowl on Instagram and win a copy of the pattern!
I've been waiting to cast off this cowl until I had a name for the pattern, but it's been a couple of weeks and I still have nothing! It's knitted with @lattesandllamasyarn #escapeyarn in 'British Bake Off' and features faux cables and a rolled hem. Lend me your ideas, internet! A free PDF of the pattern goes to the person with the best name idea. #namethispattern #knitting #knittersofinstagram #shawlknittersofinstagram #handdyedyarn
The Royale Interchangeable Starter Set comes with five knitting needle tips: US Sizes 2.5, 3, 4, 5, and 6. There is a little zippered pocket that above the needle tips in the case, which contains two color-coded cords to create 24″ and 32″ length circulars. In the pocket, you’ll also find a cord key to make sure the cords are attached good and snug. There is nothing worse than having an interchangeable needle come unscrewed as you knit, so that little key is basically a gold-plated miracle.
Alright, knitting nerds. This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! All you have to do is follow the three easy steps below and you might win this prize all for yourself.
- Knit or crochet a 2017 Geek-A-Long square from weeks 16-21 or the bonus GAL square provided as part of your GAL Guild subscription. You can find a comprehensive list HERE, which does not include week 21. It isn’t out yet.
- Go to the Geek-A-Long Ravelry group and share your square in the special 2017 Display Case Giveaway thread by 11:59 PM EST on May 29, 2017. You may submit only one square, but your name will go into the hat twice if you used Lattes & Llamas Geek-A-Long Yarn to make it. Once a square is submitted it may not be used in another drawing.
- Come back to Lattes & Llamas blog on the last Wednesday of the month, May 31st, to find out if you won!
If you’re a member of the Geek-A-Long Guild, your new bonus square is available for download now on the special members only page.
Bummed you don’t have access? Never fear, GAL Guild subscriptions are open again! You can sign up now through next Monday to receive all the yarn you’ll need for weeks 25 to 36 and also get a super sweet surprise along with access to the members only page.
Truth time, I wish the GAL Guild and SOCK Club subscription windows would hurry up and close already. My fingers are itching to order the special surprises. Megan-Anne and I have had them picked out for a couple of months now, and I NEED them.
